HOPPY CHALK'S IT UP!!!
SACRAMENTO, CA - With the traditional end of Summer happening this past Labor Day weekend, Hoppy Brewing was proud to be the Signature Sponsor for 11th Annual Chalk Art Festival at Fremont Park (15th & P St.) in Sacramento. This annual festival features over 150 sidewalk paintings created during the festival by local artists who donate their time, energy, and talent during the three day event. These concrete masterpieces are left on the sidewalk for the public to enjoy throughout the month of September. There was plenty of entertainment at the festival, which also featured local bands and other performers, with the proceeds going to fund children's arts education projects throughout Sacramento County. For more information on this event, please visit their website at www.chalkitup.org, or for that matter, visit our festival website below to see some interesting pictures from this unique fund-raising event.

HOPPY DEBUTS DR. D...
SACRAMENTO, CA - Hoppy Brewing was recently presented with an idea for a character called "Dr. D" by the nearby public relations firm of Crocker / Flanagan (www.crockerflanagan.com) to be used in future advertising spots for Hoppy Brewing. David Flanagan, the mastermind behind the character, believes Dr. D is just weird enough to get people's attention, which in advertising, getting attention and more importantly - obtaining retention, is the ultimate goal with any advertising campaign.
Dr. D is one of those old time medical talk radio DJ's, who has not seen the light of day in years. Dr. D's topic of the moment is "stress" and how it literally sucks the life out of you. He is soliciting his listening audience for suggestions on how to eliminate this common ailment that people suffer from, and in this case "Hoppy's" comes to mind. In under 60 seconds Dr. D paints "Hoppy's" as a prescription for good health, says good-bye to Mr. Stress, and tells you to move forward my friend.
Look for the good doctor to be popping up on a couple of local radio stations here in Sacramento starting later this month.

HOPPY ADDS DISTRIBUTION!!!
SACRAMENTO, CA - In an effort to further improve deliveries to Hoppy Brewing's growing list of retailers here in the Sacramento area, Hoppy has agreed to let an independent local distributor handle all future sales and deliveries. KaWika Distributing, who specializes in select microbreweries and imported fine wines, will now distribute Hoppy's kegged and bottled ales in the Sacramento area. According to Mr. Craig Borgman, KaWika's General Manager, "Hoppy is a local microbrewery that has a strong presence at local festivals, makes use of smart advertising, and we really wanted to represent their high-quality, award-winning products. In addition, we were already making deliveries to their current accounts, so it sort of made sense for them to suspend the duplication of effort and let us do what we do best for them."
For more information about KaWika Distributing and their line of fine products or if you are an interested retailer in obtaining one of Hoppy's fine products, please contact Mr. Craig Borgman at 916.660.9422, or online at sales@kawikadist.com.

HOPPY RECENT EVENTS...
Our Lucky Lunch Winner for the month of August was Mr. Michael McAfee, from EarthLink, who is their Sr. Technical Support Agent. Congratulations Mr. McAfee!!! We look forward to serving you your complementary lunch!
CSUS Football kicked off the 2001 season with a home opener against St. Mary's this past weekend by winning the game 13-6 in overtime! Hoppy Brewing Company is once again proud to be the "official" microbrew sponsor for the CSUS Hornet's. IMPORTANT: Rules once again are in place this year, which keeps ALL beer limited to the beer garden at the South end of the stadium; so if you get thirsty during the game, feel free to come by and grab a nice cold Hoppy brew. However, if you are looking for something more than just beer, feel free to stop by our brewpub before the game, eat a nice dinner, and then stop by our booth as you head toward your seats before kickoff.
Our brewpub is open daily at 11:00am serving some of the best valued Lunches, Dinners, and Daily Specials in the area. If you have not seen our menu lately, feel free to check it out online at www.hoppy.com/sacramento/menu.htm, or just stop in and see us. We are always looking forward to sharing our day with our valued customers. However, as some of you already know, Lunch can get quite busy from time-to-time during the week; so if you are on a tight schedule, please try to avoid the noon hour for sharing if possible - especially if you have a large party.
Also, in addition to our normal daily Hoppy Hour from 3-6pm and our LATE-NIGHT Hoppy Hour from 10-11pm, featuring $2.75 pints and $9.25 pitchers, we have a number of other incentives here at our brewpub for you to enjoy:
* On Sunday's we include a bottle of Hoppy brew to go with every Lunch/Dinner entree purchased. * On Sunday's & Tuesday's we feature $0.99 children's meals with an adult meal purchase. * On Monday's our 12 ounce brews are only a $1.00 from 3-6pm, and during football season we extend that special until someone scores - in the game... ;) * On Tuesday's we feature $2.00 pints all day until we close. * On Wednesday's we have a South Park special where most 12 ounce beers on tap are only $1.00 from 10:00pm until Kenny dies! * Whenever the temperature hits a 100 degrees, the bartender picks a Hoppy brew to be a $1.00 for as long as the heat remains in triple digits outdoors... * Spot the Hoppy Bus, take a picture of the bus with you beside it, bring the picture in, and we will exchange it for a pint of Hoppy brew! Also, our logo wear (i.e., polo shirts, tie-dye t-shirts, ball caps, and fleece pullovers) can make for a GREAT gift anytime of the year. However, if you are not sure about our merchandise as a gift, we also have gift certificates available in most any denomination of your choice for use here at our brewpub to give as a present as well...
Speaking of merchandise, the holidays are coming up, and Hoppy has a special holiday gift box available. New this year is a wooden logo engraved box containing two bottles of Hoppy Claus™ Holiday Ale for only $20.00 and $25.00 if you would like it shipped. Hoppy Claus will be available starting the first of November, but it is not too early to put your order in now...
Lastly, we usually have some space available for your company parties in the restaurant, so if you have an interest, just call 916.451.4677 and speak with Mr. Kenny Turner to plan your next party or event as soon as possible...

HOPPY UPCOMING EVENTS!!!
Monday Night Football 2001 is finally here, and with the success of our $1.00 special whenever the temperature goes over 100 degrees, we will now be featuring our 12 ounce beers for only a buck during Hoppy Hour and until somebody scores in the game each Monday night. Hoppy Hour runs daily from 3-6:00pm, so if you want to get the week started off with some of the best award-winning beers Sacramento has to offer, then make sure to stop by on Monday's during Hoppy Hour and a little Monday Night Football...
Are you a member of the Hoppy Mug Club??? If not, the Hoppy Crew has added another incentive to this popular club. Basically, mug members get the privilege of drinking out of their 20 ounce engraved mug for whatever the price is on a pint of Hoppy brew. However, since there are a number of 12 ounce specials at Hoppy Brewing, it was decided to include the mug members in these specials as well. Therefore, whenever there is a 12 ounce $1.00 beer special in effect, mug member prices will be just a $1.75. Just one more incentive to join the club...
Coming this September 22nd, will be the 7th Annual California Brewer's Festival, from 1:00 until 5:00pm, located at Cesar Chavez Park in downtown Sacramento. There will be over 100 award-winning microbrew's from northern California, Oregon, and Nevada; food from local restaurants, and live music from local bands. A couple of the award-winning brews available will be the Hoppy Face™ Amber and the Total Eclipse™ Black Ale's. Judges awarded these two brews with Silver medals in each of their respective categories earlier last month. In addition, proceeds this year are once again benefiting Communities In Schools - Student Buddy Program. This event is presented by "Rotary of Point West" with tickets $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the gate. For more information, call 916.368.BREW, or visit their website at www.calbrewfest.org.
The Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado is once again upon us from September 27th through the 29th. This is the BIG granddaddy of beer festivals in the craft-brew industry, with about 300 brewers from around the country converging upon Denver to show off their latest brews. This festival draws about 20,000 people a day each year, and makes for one exciting time during the course of each day's session. We know most of you do not have the opportunity to make it out to Denver, so we try to take pictures of the festival and provide them to you on our website in past years. However, one thing that might happen this year is that we might be able to provide live updates from the festival with a wireless webcam. Stay tuned for more details at www.hoppy.com/gabf2001, or if you are interested in more details about this awesome festival, visit their website at www.beertown.org/GABF/gabf.htm.

Remember...the craft brew industry is very competitive, and we can always use your help when you are out there in the bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and etc. How can you help us you may be asking yourselves??? Well...we need you to ask your local retailer(s) for our products (to the point of bugging them if necessary), so that you are able to buy the products that you "really" want - not just what is on the store shelf, or on-tap, at the moment...
You, the consumer, have more power than you may know. Speak up, speak clearly, and your earnest taste buds may reap those proactive rewards. If you do this, then we are sure it will not be long before you will be able to enjoy our Liquid Sunshine™ Blonde, Hoppy Face™ Amber, Stony Face™ Red, and Total Eclipse™ Black Ales outside of attending a local festival, or even visiting us here in Sacramento...
NOTE: As a bonus to those of you who actually read our newsletter, and got this far, for the first 25 people who bring in the last sheet of this newsletter with the little coupon below, including your email address, you will get 25% off any Lunch or Dinner entree!!!
