  LIQUID SUNSHINE(TM) TO DEBUT SOON!!!

WILLOW GLEN - Almost two years ago, those "Purveyor's of Fun®" made their commercial debut with a big hearty beer called Hoppy Face(TM) Amber Ale. Now, those very same Hoppy Dudes and Dudettes will soon be releasing their second brand in 22 ounce bottles into the marketplace, which will be known as Liquid Sunshine(TM) Blonde Ale. "The Liquid Sunshine will be a perfect compliment to our Hoppy Face, since it is basically a beer that has a very nice aroma, is light on the palate with a unique citrusy taste, and finishes very dry. It may not exactly fit into any particular beer style, but it sure does wonders for quiching your thirst on a parched afternoon", adds company president Troy Paski.

"One of the frequent comments we've received from the prototype batches is that it has this wonderful citrus like flavor; and they want to know how we get that flavor in the beer, so I tell them it just comes from the various hops that we use. This gets them asking more questions, but that's for another story and another time", comments Troy. "However, I do believe hops are one of the primary reasons behind what's driving the microbrewery craze right now. Simply because over the past fifty years Americans have been weened on consistently brewed beers that lack character and uniqueness. Now, with all of these craft brewers experimenting with different kinds of hops, people are getting an opportunity to drink beer with some really unique characteristics; sort of like with different kinds of grapes and wine. There's alot of ways to prepare a fine pasta meal, and depending upon the type/amount of seasoning's one puts in it, that will determine how memorable that meal was. The same can be said for hops in beer", says Troy.

"On the other hand, there are alot of different grains that go into a beer that effect the flavor. These grains provide characteristics like: the amount of alcohol that's available; maltyness - like how heavy it is on one's palate; various roasted flavors; and color, body and head retention, stuff like that. This is similar to the above pasta analogy, where the grains are the pasta, and the hops are the spices. It takes alot of grain to make a little beer, and it takes a few hops to give it that perfect seasoning. Of course, anyone can make descent spaghetti, but with little experimenting, alot of patience, and some hard work, most anyone can make a memorable gormet pasta meal; but then we're talking about beer here now aren't we", concludes Troy. It seems as though Troy had food on his mind, since he quickly departed heading toward the kitchen...

  INTERVIEW WITH A STAFF MEMBER

This interview took place at the Shark & Rose over the course of a few hours. The Shark & Rose is a fine downtown San Jose restaurant and bar serving Hoppy Face since 1994. All bar noise and expletives have been removed. This is a family newsletter after all...

Q: So you're the Chief Financial Officer of T.ROY Brewing Company. Tell me, what does the CFO of a young growing Microbrewery do?
A: Well, basically I pay the bills.

Q: Pay the bills?! That sounds like a thrill a minute.
A: I've probably oversimplified things a bit but we are running a business and someone has to make sure the bills are paid and the company is paid on a timely basis. The importance of cash flow management can't be overstated. You can be making money like gangbusters, but if you don't have the cash on hand to pay your bills you won't be in business long. If we can't pay a bill on time our suppliers need to know why and when they can expect payment. It's my job to tell them, sometimes I delegate this task to Troy. If we haven't received payment within 31 days (we work on a 30 day net) our distributors can count on a phone call or maybe even an in-person visit from Troy. This usually isn't a problem because our distributors have been great about paying us on time.

Q: Paying bills, cash flow management, phone calls; do you ever have what normal people might consider fun?
A: (2 more Hoppies please) Hey, I can't think of anything more fun than being on the ground floor of a growing business, especially the craft beer business. It's hard work and frustrating at times but it will all be worth it when the doors of the brewpub open and we can invite our shareholders down for that first beer.

Q: Brewpub? I've been hearing about this brewpub for quite awhile now, is it ever going to happen? (This is great beer, what kind of finishing hops do you use?).
A: (Cascade) It is going to happen one way or another. We still think Willow Glen is the perfect location and there aren't lot of options with regards to sites. Just be patient because it will be worth the wait.

Q: Just a few minutes ago you mentioned inviting the shareholders down for a beer. Everybody at TBC seems to value that relationship with the shareholders.
A: They're the reason we've gotten as far as we have. We all feel a tremendous amount of responsibility to the shareholders. They believed in us by entrusting us with their hard earned cash we aren't about to let them down. Also, keep in mind everyone working for the company is a shareholder. We're all entrepreneurs working for the Great American Dream. Cheers!

SAN JOSE - If you have not seen a San Jose Giants baseball game at the historic Municipal Stadium yet, you are definitely missing out on one of the best entertainment options the Bay Area offers.

Municipal Stadium has been around since 1942 and San Jose has been the Class "A" minor leaque affiliate of the "other Giants" in the Bay since 1988. In the following 8+ years, San Jose has sent 37 players to the major leagues, including four current San Francisco Giants.

Besides the high quality of professional baseball in San Jose, the atmosphere and food is unbeatable. Not only is there your typical hot dog and beer at the ballpark, but Municipal Stadium also offers a full menu of chicken, ribs, burgers and Hoppy Face as the "only" microbrewed beer. Located down the third base line is Turkey Mike's Barbecue area, and is complete with 40 picnic tables and four full size grills. Turkey Mike's is a great place to bring a group of colleagues or to just dine with your family.

  T.ROY TO BECOME HOPPY!!!

SAN JOSE - We recently caught up with Troy one evening and asked him about why the change in names... "When we started this company, we used my nickname "T.ROY", because it was unique and we couldn't come up with a better one. However, over the past couple of years we've been increasingly referred to as the Hoppy this and Hoppy that, so we felt it was time to make the transition with the release of our new brand", says company president Troy Paski. Therefore, with the release of Liquid Sunshine™ Blonde Ale, the company will be officially changing its name from T.ROY Brewing Company®, to that of Hoppy Brewing Company™ states account executive Andy Brinck. "Another reason behind doing this, is since all of our beers have a unique hop signature, we thought the new name would be more helpful to the consumer in the long run", says Andy. "People look at our registered logo, and think of happy face, so since our beers are highly hopped, we just felt it would be a real natural company name", adds events coordinator JoANN Guercio.
