HOPPY BUS SET TO ROLL!!!

SACRAMENTO, CA - The first ever "Hoppy Bus" is due to be christened on Wednesday, May 02nd at 11:00am in front of our brewpub. The Hoppy Bus, really the Regional Transit (RT) bus number 82, which runs between the campus of Sacramento State and American River College, has been an idea in the making for a number of months. "Basically we were looking for a fun way to help spread the word about our Sunday Special, and the bus seemed like a GREAT way to do that," according to Mr. Robert Helms.

"Heard about our Sunday Special???" has continued to gain momentum, which is that we include a bottle of one of our tasty brews to go with every lunch or dinner entree purchased on Sunday's, and now with the "Hoppy Bus" rolling down Sacramento streets, even more people will know about the best deal in town.

Speaking of deals, and if you happen to have a camera with you, if you see the "Hoppy Bus", have someone take a picture of you next to the bus, bring it in the next time you visit us, and we will exchange that picture for a pint of one of our tasty brews.

Also, if you would like to join us on Wednesday for the christening, feel free to be here at 11:00am. Otherwise, tune into the local FM radio station KZZO, which is 100.5 on your dial, to listen to the christening. Finally, you will also be able to see a picture of the bus on our website at:

HOPPY BREW UPDATE...

SACRAMENTO, CA - Tyson's "Twisted Pale Ale", an English style India Pale Ale, has been well received, and it is bound to run out before the end of the month. Therefore, if you like hops, and have not tasted this brew yet, you should most definitely give this brew a try before it is gone.

Coming in June, well maybe Memorial Day weekend, is one of our assistant brewers, and part time bartender, Mr. Jeremy Cross's first recipe here at Hoppy Brewing. Jeremy decided he wanted to make a Belgian Style Saison, and has named it a "Solar Saison" for its summer arrival. His Solar Saison is patterned after a southern Belgian ale that is traditionally brewed for the warm summer months. When tasting this brew, one will notice that it is gently spiced with sweet orange peel and coriander. This tasty brew will be a perfect cure for Sacramento's sizzling summer heat.

Speaking of heat, we will once again be featuring our $1.00 beer special whenever the temperature reaches the century mark. Basically, whenever someone notices on the thermometer across the street that it is 100 or greater, the bartender will pick one of our 12 ounce beers to be a buck for as long as it stays in triple digits. Hopefully we will have nice COOL summer... ;)

HOPPY RECENT EVENTS!!!

Our Lucky Lunch Winner for the month of April was Mr. Mark Dynes, from the Shared Medical Systems Corporation, who is their Systems Analyst. Congratulations Mr. Dynes!!! We look forward to serving you your complementary lunch!

Ever remodel a house??? Well Mr. Chris Baerwaldt has been giving our "virtual" home at www.hoppy.com a little face lift, making some improvements, and improving the overall feel of our place in cyberspace. If you have not visited us recently on the Internet, you should stop by for a gander. Gee...even send us some feedback of what you think of his handiwork, but remember he is not done yet...

In addition to our normal daily Hoppy Hour from 3-6pm and our LATE-NIGHT Hoppy Hour from 10-11pm, featuring $2.50 pints and $9.00 pitchers, the Hoppy Crew continues to spread awareness of a number of our other daily incentives:

    * On Sunday's we include a bottle of Hoppy brew to go
      with every Lunch/Dinner entree purchased.
    * On Tuesday's & Thursday's we feature $0.99 children's
      meals with an adult meal purchase.  
    * On Tuesday's we feature $2.00 pints all day until we
      close.  
    * On Wednesday's we have a South Park special where most
      12 ounce beers on tap are only $1.00 from 10:00pm until
      Kenny dies!  
    * Whenever our local NBA team the Kings are on TV, which
      is almost every game, we feature our "Jon Barry" Weizen for
      only $1.00.  Gee...I wonder who else in town supports
      the KINGS like we here at Hoppy???

In other entertainment news, "The Chase" is moving from Friday nights to every Saturday night beginning on May 12th. Basically, FBI (Far Beyond Intense) "The Chase" features the sounds of High Energy, Disco, House, Salsa, and RnB by local DJ's Wreck, E-Swift and Brian Tedlos for only a $5.00 cover from 11:00pm until 1:45am in the main dining area of our brewpub. In addition, the crowd has gotten large enough on most nights, that by 12:30 the guys at the door are turning people away; so if you want in to dance - show up at 11:00 and get in line to get inside...

Also, our logo wear (i.e., polo shirts, tie-dye t-shirts, ball caps, and fleece pullovers) can make for a GREAT gift anytime of the year. However, if you are not sure about our merchandise as a gift, we also have gift certificates available in most any denomination of your choice for use here at our brewpub to give as a present as well...

Lastly, we usually have some space available for your company parties in the restaurant, and if you are looking for a space to have a private party (and do not mind some rustic surroundings) our TIN-Room behind our brewpub might suit your needs - but the space is filling up fast. If you have an interest, just call 916.451.4677 and speak with Mr. Kenny Turner to plan your next party or event as soon as possible...

HOPPY UPCOMING EVENTS...

GO KINGS!!! Local TV station KMAX - UPN-31, will be here at Hoppy doing their pregame show at 7:00pm prior to this Wednesday's game four against the Phoenix Suns at 7:30pm. After winning game three to take a 2-1 series lead, the KINGS could advance to the second round of the NBA playoffs against the Los Angeles Lakers with a victory. Make sure to get here early to get the best seat possible, and if it becomes too crowded, we will have the TIN-Room open in the back during each playoff game for your viewing pleasure. The TIN-Room features two BIG screen TV's, more sound that you can handle, $2.00 tasty "hoppy" brews, and FREE popcorn and peanuts.

Coming Saturday, May 12th, is the West Coast Brew Fest 2001 at the "new" Riverwalk Park located on the Sacramento River Waterfront, across from Old Sacramento. This "cool" beer fest is from 1-5:00pm, featuring breweries from the West Coast, local musicians, an awards ceremony for the brewer's, and it is all for only $15.00. Proceeds from this festival go to benefit the "Make a Difference Foundation". As for the competition, the judging will be held on Sunday, May 06th, in the TIN-Room behind Hoppy Brewing.

On MOTHER's DAY Sunday, May 13th, we will be open at 11:00am to help celebrate this SPECIAL day by providing to each Mom a FREE dessert of her choice, along with a complimentary glass of champagne or craft brew all day. So make your reservation now to show up and celebrate Mother's Day with us!

On Memorial Day, Monday May 28th, we will be having our Holiday $1.00 beer special, where all 12 ounce Hoppy brews are only a buck. We will also be very child friendly that day with FREE kids meals for children 12 and under with an adult meal purchase.

Remember...the craft brew industry is very competitive, and we can always use your help when you are out there in the bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and etc. How can you help us you may be asking yourselves??? Well...we need you to ask your local retailer(s) for our products (to the point of bugging them if necessary), so that you are able to buy the products that you "really" want - not just what is on the store shelf, or on-tap, at the moment...

You, the consumer, have more power than you may know. Speak up, speak clearly, and your earnest taste buds may reap those proactive rewards. If you do this, then we are sure it will not be long before you will be able to enjoy our Liquid Sunshine™ Blonde, Hoppy Face™ Amber, and Total Eclipse™ Black Ales outside of attending a local festival, or even visiting us here in Sacramento...
