Interview with a Staff Member

Starting with this edition, we thought we would devote this space to a revolving staff member so that they have an opportunity to voice their thoughts directly to you.

Q: What exactly do you do as an Events Coordinator?
A: Actually, working for a small company I do whatever is necessary to support the growth of our company. However, as the "official" Events Coordinator, my responsibility is to plan, arrange, and coordinate the events that we will be involved with this year. When I took over this responsibility last fall, I had no idea that there were so many factors that go into putting together a successful event. I mean with things like the time management of personnel, amount of beer needed, what kind of promotions are we going to do, not to mention the cost to do the event; and then trying to figure in the intangibles of the charity aspect and the benefit of exposing our beer in a particular location, I have found that this endeavor is "just" a little bit more than a full- time job...

Q: So do you enjoy it?
A: Sure, basically I am a very people oriented person, and it gives me an opportunity to be involved with this exceptional company on a daily basis. Even though it has taken up a considerable amount of my personal time, I really do not think of it as a job at all... I get to meet great people who love our beer, and some of them even tell me that they feel that our beer is the best beer around; how could anyone not enjoy doing this???

Q: What are some of the benefits to doing these events?
A: I get a great deal of personal satisfaction watching people try our beer for the first time! Also, we get a lot of new "converts" as a result of these events, and it is just really hard to beat "dollar-wise" that old word-of-mouth advertising... A surprising aspect that I did not expect, is the number of new investors these festivals have brought into our company. I am just continually amazed at how many people ask how they can invest in our microbrewery!!!

Q: Lastly, what is on the agenda for 1996?
A: Our top priority is to get our brewpub open in Willow Glen! Secondly, to give as many people as possible the opportunity to enjoy our little Hoppy Face! There is just something about that little smile one has when they drink our product that is totally unique... Lastly, just continuing to stay Hoppy!

In addition, as of this printing, JoANN's additional job title will read Investor Relations. We believe she is perfect for the job because of her personality, contacts, and support to the company. However, she will also continue as our Events Coordinator, since the two jobs fit well together...
