San Jose America Festival
San Jose America Festival - Hoppy Face, Sam Adams, and Bud
(quite a trio)...
SAN JOSE - The fifth annual San Jose America Festival held next to the Children’s Discovery Museum, is fast becoming a local tradition; and with over 150,000 people in attendance on the Fourth of July this year, the Emergency Housing Consortium was the major benefactor!
Held this year on July 1, 2, and 4th, the event consisted of a number of local food vendors, merchants, musicians, and various entertainers, with proceeds going to the Emergency Housing Consortium. “Basically there was a great Blues format on Saturday, Jazz during the day on Sunday with the Symphony on Sunday night, and a huge fireworks display on the 4th”, says promotions director Robert Helms. “The three day event was the first event of this magnitude that the company had ever participated in”, says Robert. “For the most part, everything ran really smooth, but there were a few things we learned from working with a crowd this large, and we’ll be looking forward to doing this again next year”, concludes Robert.
Small Brewer’s Festival - Second Time Around!!!
MOUNTAIN VIEW - The seventh annual Small Brewer’s Festival held behind the Tied House in Mountain View continues to prove to be more than just your ordinary outdoor keg party! The event raises money exclusively for non-profit organizations with 100% of the profits being distributed to local charities. In addition, this years event graduated to an 18,000 square feet big top tent, up 2,000 square feet from last year! “The event continues to attract more and more people every year, and last year there were just too many people in that tent”, exclaimed the company’s financial officer Pat McKenzie. Pat says that he had heard people talking of standing in line for 40-50 minutes last year just to get a little Hoppy Face; fortunately, that was not the case this year!!!
Held this year on July 15 and 16, and with 44 microbreweries in attendance, volunteers serving the beer to over 20,000 people had more than they bargained for on Saturday afternoon when the temperature approached 105 degrees!!! “I heard that beer sales were off slightly on Saturday, and I’m sure it was because it was just too hot to drink beer”, says company president Troy Paski. “However, Sunday proved to be a perfect day to sample a plethora of different beer from around the area”, adds Steve Rickman company facility manager.
“Last year was our coming out party, so to speak”, adds Robert Helms the company’s director of promotions, “and we really had a lot of fun at the festival last year; but now, with it being our second time around, it’s still a lot of fun, but it’s just a little more business like”, concludes Robert...
MOUNTAIN VIEW - T.ROY Brewing Company® recently celebrated their first “official” birthday at Fogg’s in Mountain View on Friday evening July 14th! As part of the celebration, the company had earlier in the day arranged a golf tournament, “which might become an annual event based upon the enthusiasm from the participants”, says the company’s director of promotions Robert Helms.
“In looking back over the past year, there were a lot of things that we accomplished, and there were some that we didn’t”, says a somewhat exhausted Troy Paski. “With that thought in mind, can you be more specific”, asks Fogg’s owner Tony Deszily?
Well...I’d say that I’m glad that:
And...I’d say that I’m disappointed that:
“What can we look for in the coming year from you guys”, the ever inquisitive Tony asks?
Well...you can look for:
WILLOW GLEN - A recent acquisition to the Hoppy Family, is one of the top ten RE/MAX agents in the country, Art Scott, recently became the largest single investor in T.ROY Brewing Company® who are the makers of that local San Jose favorite, Hoppy Face Amber Ale. “I think the company has a great product, and with those Hoppy guys building a brewpub in Willow Glen, I just felt that it was too good of an investment opportunity to pass up”, says Art Scott. “I am very excited Art’s aboard, and his involvement with the company will primarily be as a consultant to further enhance the company’s sales and marketing strategies”, says company president Troy Paski. “It is great to have people with the caliber of Art that believe in your company”, adds chief financial officer Pat McKenzie.
On the downside, Mr. Craig Swackhammer, former Chief of Brewing Operations and who had been with the company since it was started, has decided to pursue other interests at this point in his life. In addition, Mrs. Michelle Benton, former Director of Marketing has decided that handling the marketing segment for a growing microbrewery was just too time consuming, and has decided to pursue a less hectic lifestyle. Their services will be greatly missed, and the company has yet to determine their replacements...
We wish them both the best of luck with whatever life bestows upon them!
T.ROY Brewing Company® was recently informed by the Patent and Trademark Office of the United States that it was granted a registered mark for both its corporate logo and its company name!
WILLOW GLEN - In a continued pursuit to make use of the latest technology available, those Hoppy guys have retained the services of the hottest WEB designer in the country! Mr. Dave Luke, who was also instrumental in the design of the Hoppy Face label, now turned WEB guru, has put together a page that is sure to set new standards for other microbreweries to follow...
“Just picture a Hoppy Face with “drawers” like one of Salvador Dali’s famous paintings (i.e., the Venus De Milo)”, says Dave. “The drawers are the links to the other pages in our WWW site, and they have embossed words for each page; plus knobs of course”, concludes Dave.
“The things that we’re interested in making available to a larger audience are our: Merchandise, Investment Opportunities, Our Products, Our Company, Where to Find Hoppy Face, What the Future Holds, and most importantly a Feedback Link”, adds company president Troy Paski.
