HOPPY TURNS TWO IN SACRAMENTO!!!

SACRAMENTO, CA - On Tuesday, June 26th, the Hoppy Crew, along with radio station 100.5FM KZZO - the ZONE - held a birthday party to celebrate Hoppy's second year in Sacramento. Morning radio hosts Shawn & Jeff were on hand to taunt the crowd and tease them with prizes throughout the evening. In addition, a special Hoppy B-Day cake was created by nearby Cake Castle to help set the mood for the evening.
Celebrating two years with $2.00 pints, $2.00 appetizers and $0.99 children's meals helped fill the brewpub. However, the primary prizes for the evening were a pair of tickets to the upcoming Depeche Mode and Aerosmith concerts, which had people willing to do almost anything to win them...
In what has become a staple at beer festivals, the Hoppy Crew, for the first time, brought this festival tradition in house and broke out its stash of temporary tattoo's to see who really wanted to win the tickets. After the kitchen had closed and the kiddies had long gone home, the ZONE guys decided that the person with the most provocative Hoppy tattoo placement would be the winner as decided by the crowd. As it turned out, there happened to be a tie between two pretty provocative winners... ;)
In addition, and as total surprise, Hoppy received a custom made collapsible electric eScooter with Hoppy's logo on it from their industrial design neighbors next door. The guys at the Design Annex [http://www.designannex.com] came up with the idea of giving Troy a scooter, since he had been borrowing one of theirs from time-to-time to run errands. According to Troy, the eScooter [with it's own little pint holder] is one of the "coolest" ways to cruise around in, and it will definitely end up at some beer festivals - especially the annual Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado.

HOPPY DEBUTS STONY FACE™...

SACRAMENTO, CA - The Hoppy Brew Crew is set to release their first new bottle product in almost five years. The debut of the Stony Face™ Red Ale in bottles is scheduled to occur on the first of August. The Stony Face™, which used to be the Rasta Red Ale, is Hoppy's second best selling brew at the brewpub, and is being bottled because the customers just keep asking when is it going to get bottled. The Stony Face is a nice blend of four malts, which colors this beer a rich mahogany, and pumps it up to a malty Herculean red ale at 5.6% alcoohol. In other brewing news, the Solar Saison is gone, but coming in a couple of weeks will be the debut of Hoppy's "Uncommon" Common Ale. This brew is a bit misleading by name, since the style of this brew is known as California Common Ale, or a Steam Style Ale. This brew will be about 5% in alcohol, about 45 IBU's using the Northern Brewer and Cascade hops, and have a nice medium color to it.

HOPPY RECENT EVENTS!!!

Our Lucky Lunch Winner for the month of July was Mr. Kevin Froelich, from the Intel Corporation, who is their Component Design Engineer. Congratulations Mr. Froelich!!! We look forward to serving you your complementary lunch!

In addition to our normal daily Hoppy Hour from 3-6pm and our LATE-NIGHT Hoppy Hour from 10-11pm, featuring $2.75 pints and $9.25 pitchers, the Hoppy Crew continues to spread awareness of a number of our other incentives:
    * On Sunday's we include a bottle of Hoppy brew to go
      with every Lunch/Dinner entree purchased.
    * On Sunday's & Tuesday's we feature $0.99 children's
      meals with an adult meal purchase.
    * On Monday's our 12 ounce brews are only a $1.00 from 3-6pm,
      and during football season we extend that special until 
      someone scores - in the game...  ;)
    * On Tuesday's we feature $2.00 pints all day until we close.  
    * On Wednesday's we have a South Park special where most
      12 ounce beers on tap are only $1.00 from 10:00pm until
      Kenny dies!  
    * Whenever our local NBA team the Kings are on TV, which
      is almost every game, we feature our Kings "Jon Barry" 
      Weizen for only $1.00.  Gee...I wonder who else in town 
      supports the KINGS like we here at Hoppy???
    * Whenever the temperature hits a 100 degrees, the bartender
      picks a Hoppy brew to be a $1.00 for as long as the heat
      remains in triple digits outdoors...
    * Spot the Hoppy Bus, take a picture of the bus with you
      beside it, bring the picture in, and we will exchange 
      it for a pint of Hoppy brew!
Also, our logo wear (i.e., polo shirts, tie-dye t-shirts, ball caps, and fleece pullovers) can make for a GREAT gift anytime of the year. However, if you are not sure about our merchandise as a gift, we also have gift certificates available in most any denomination of your choice for use here at our brewpub to give as a present as well...

HOPPY UPCOMING EVENTS...

NEW on Monday's!!! In preparation for the start of Monday Night Football, and with the success of our $1.00 special whenever the temperature goes over 100 degrees, we will now be featuring our 12 ounce beers for only a buck during Hoppy Hour on Monday's. Hoppy Hour runs daily from 3-6:00pm, so if you want to get the week started off with some of the best award winning beers Sacramento has to offer, then make sure to stop by on Monday's during Hoppy Hour...
Are you a member of the Hoppy Mug Club??? If not, starting this month the Hoppy Crew adds another incentive to this popular club. Basically, mug members get the privilege of drinking out of their 20 ounce engraved mug for whatever the price is on a pint of Hoppy brew. However, since there a number of 12 ounce specials at Hoppy Brewing, it was decided to include the mug members in these specials as well. Therefore, whenever there is a 12 ounce $1.00 beer special in effect, mug member prices will be just a $1.75. Just one more incentive to join the club...
With Sacramento's sizzling summer heat breaking more records than a pack of music deprived teenagers scrambling for the latest Britney Spears CD, Hoppy Brewing's Mr. Steve Walters has been creating some amazing salad specials for lunch. Mr. Walters, who heads up Hoppy's pantry duties in the kitchen during the day will be featuring some of his truly incredible salad creations during the month of July to help ward off some of that summer heat.
Hoppy heads north of the border!!! Hoppy Brewing will be the only California craft brewery available in Calgary, Alberta, Canada from July 5th through July 7th supporting Canada's largest microbrewery festival. If you happen to be in the area, tickets are only $30 in advance, or $38 at the door. In addition, more information can be found online at www.microbrewerystampede.com.
Ikeda's California Country Market with two locations, one in Davis and one in Auburn will be opening its third store in a couple of weeks at the old Merlino's site next door to Hoppy Brewing!!! Ikeda's features gourmet fruits and vegetables from their nearby orchards and fields. In addition to just fruits and vegetables, they also feature mouth-watering pies, extremely popular seasonal fresh fruit made-to-order smoothies, and a whole line of Ikeda's Gourmet Signature Family Sauces and Dressings. With the success of their two current locations, one can bet that owner's Glen and Steve Ikeda are sure to liven up the old Merlino's location as they get settled in. Rumor has it that Hoppy won some awards at the State Fair judging recently. As a prelude to the State Fair in August, the annual California Grape & Gourmet on Tuesday, July 24th, from 5-7:30 at the state fair grounds will be featuring award winning wines & craft brews, along with food from some of Sacramento's finest restaurants. Remember...the craft brew industry is very competitive, and we can always use your help when you are out there in the bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and etc. How can you help us you may be asking yourselves??? Well...we need you to ask your local retailer(s) for our products (to the point of bugging them if necessary), so that you are able to buy the products that you "really" want - not just what is on the store shelf, or on-tap, at the moment...
You, the consumer, have more power than you may know. Speak up, speak clearly, and your earnest taste buds may reap those proactive rewards.
