HOPPY SUMMER SOLSTICE BREWERS FESTIVAL!!!

SACRAMENTO, CA - The Summer Solstice Brewer's Festival was held behind Hoppy Brewing Company on June 24th & 25th. This first-year festival helped raise funds/awareness for "The Student Buddy Program", and was very successful according to many festival attendees. Although the temperature was pretty typical for a Sacramento Summer weekend, there were plenty of people who braved the heat to try tasty brews from 17 local craft-breweries around the Sacramento area under two large tents behind Hoppy Brewing Company.

In addition, those in attendance were also treated to some incredible sounds from local musicians who kept the air filled throughout the weekend with their music. However, if you missed out on attending the festival, do not worry, as plans are already in the works for next year's event.

In the meantime, you can always visit the local breweries to try their tasty brews. Plus, rumor has it that all of the bands were recorded and as soon as editing is complete, a Summer Solstice Brewer's Festival CD may be available for purchase. According to Mr. Robert Helms, Hoppy Brewing's Director of Promotions, "the bands sounded really great, and we just thought it would be another way to help spread awareness of the festival and help raise funds for the charity." Look for a possible release in a couple of months...

An unexpected hit at the festival was the giant "jolly-green" jumping dinosaur, and it was not only a hit with a larger than expected amount of kids, but for the adults as well. Therefore, next year make sure to look for the 30 foot tall slide as well...

Headline Sponsor for the event was the Sacramento News & Review, and other supporting sponsors included, Pepsi, Aquafina, KZZO 100.5 The Zone, KHYL Magic 101.1, Comcast Cable, and United Rentals - plus many more. The Communities in Schools "Student Buddy Program" thanks them for their support!

HOPPY TO HOST THE BREWERS GUILD...

SACRAMENTO, CA - We are proud to announce that we are once again the host brewery for the students attending the American Brewers Guild's Intensive Brewing Science and Engineering classes during the week of July 10th through the 14th. "With classes and higher education becoming more efficient by allowing students to do their course work through the Internet rather than sitting in a classroom, it made sense for us to work with a local brewery like Hoppy to provide our students the practical "hands-on" training of actually working in a brewery when we get to that portion of the training," comments Mr. Steve Parkes, President of the American Brewers Guild.

If you have an interest in brewing, and would like more information on what the school has to offer, you can visit them online at http://www.abgbrew.com, or simply call them at 800.636.1331, we are quite sure you will get more than your monies' worth by going through the program.

HOPPY OLYMPIC TRACK & FIELD FINALS!!!

SACRAMENTO, CA - Coming this July 14th and lasting for 10 days will be the largest sporting event in Sacramento history. Approximately 20,000 tickets have been sold to each day's events being held at Hornet Stadium on the California State University - Sacramento campus (basically next door to Hoppy). For those planning on attending the events, and with the opening of the "new" pedestrian tunnel on 65th Street leading directly to the stadium, Hoppy Brewing will be offering event parking in the field behind our brewpub. It is just a short 5 minute walk to the stadium from our brewpub, which is actually closer than many parking lots on campus...

Parking will only be $5.00 in the lot off of 65th Street and directly behind our brewpub, and we will provide you with a coupon for a complimentary beverage (i.e., a pint of brew) to be used either before, during, or after each days events. Therefore, plan on coming early and eating before the events, take a break during the events and walk on over for a bite, or even drop in on your way home.

More information about each days events can be found online at:

HOPPY RECENT EVENTS...

Our Lucky Lunch Winner for the month of June was Mr. Timothy Flemming, from the Mark Thomas & Co., Inc. Congratulations Mr. Flemming!!! We look forward to serving you your complementary lunch!

Remember, if you have a chance to visit us here at our brewpub, be sure to drop your business card in the jar by the door on your way out to be eligible to win a complimentary Lunch and Drink on us. As my Mom says, "you can't win if you don't play" - thanks Mom...

On the brewing front, Mr. Tom Frisbie, Hoppy's brewer in charge of Quality Control, has brewed up another batch of what has been termed "Bill [Buggedusfora] Brown Ale". According to Mr. Frisbie, "it is not like a typical English Brown, nor quite like an American Brown, but rather it is a nice rich malty hybrid of the two, which should make the malt-heads out there quite happy." In addition, Mr. Ed Kopta, Hoppy's head brewer, has a very kind "award-winning" Hefeweizen on-tap that should satisfy most any persons desire to drink an unfiltered wheat beer.

Also, in the past we have had some of our customers create a drink called a Pink Sunshine, which is a combination of Pink Lemonade and our Liquid Sunshine™ Blonde Ale. However, the hottest new creation for those in need of a little pick-me-up is called "Planet Janet's Wired Ale", which is a combination of Red Bull and our Total Eclipse™ Black Ale. If you have not tried it yet, it is definitely worth the try, at least according to Janet...

For those in the Bay Area longing for our products and not able to make the drive to Sacramento, you will be glad to know that you can once again find our products at your local Beverage's & more! stores. In addition, for those in the Santa Clara area you will also be able to find us on-tap for the first time ever at the Fish Market located at 3775 El Camino Real. Feel free to call them at 408.246.3474 just to make sure we are on-tap before you go...

Remember...the craft brew industry is very competitive, and we can always use your help when you are out there in the bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and etc. How can you help us you may be asking yourselves??? Well...we need you to ask your local retailer(s) for our products (to the point of bugging them if necessary), so that you are able to buy the products that you "really" want - not just what is on the store shelf, or on-tap, at the moment...

You, the consumer, have more power than you may know. Speak up, speak clearly, and your earnest taste buds may reap those proactive rewards. If you do this, then we are sure it will not be long before you will be able to enjoy our Liquid Sunshine™ Blonde, Hoppy Face™ Amber, and Total Eclipse™ Black Ales outside of attending a local festival, or even visiting us here in Sacramento...
