  HOPPY YEAR IN REVIEW!!!

WILLOW GLEN, CA - We recently caught up with the Hoppy gang as they were taking some time reflecting on their past year's highlights, and making some plans for 1997. Pat McKenzie, the company's CFO, was probably the most excited about seeing their third consecutive year of growth in sales. "We have all worked really hard this year to continue to increase consumer awareness about our company and our products, and with the increase in our sales, it looks as though it is working," says an excited Mr. McKenzie. "We have got some really BIG objectives for '97, so I am sure you will be seeing and hearing even more about us this year than you did last year," finishes Pat.

Josh Williams, who will soon be heading off for his formal brewery training in Davis, was quick to add that they brought three GREAT new products to the market place, and that there might be some "interesting" new products available in the coming year from their company... In addition, he pointed out that they also won a Silver Medal at the World Beer Championships for their Hoppy Face™ Amber Ale earlier in the year, and that he is looking forward to seeing some of their new beers win some awards.

The Hoppy crew saw their entrance to the world wide web at the beginning of the year, and have had over 20,000 people visit their site since they started keeping track, commented Systems Administrator - Chris Baerwaldt. Chris, not too inclined to commuting, has recently been busy getting the company's network in place so that not only himself, but other Hoppy members can easily access company data from remote locations. "I know Troy's really going to like watching a San Jose Giants baseball game, pulling out his yet to be purchased laptop, and answering his e-mail, while waiting for that beer-batter special to come up," concludes Chris.

So what is on tap for 1997, you might be asking yourselves... We managed to pull Troy aside to get some of those answers, and after watching Troy pull out his little "crystal" ball we were finally able to get some. "Well...we are going to continue working very hard on getting our first brewpub open before the end of the year. You will also probably see our newest brands available on-tap and in six- packs, along with a new Offering Circular to help fund this availability. Now that we have a GREAT portfolio of beers, we will work much harder on increasing our distribution throughout California and the western United States. I know all of our departments will be more organized and systematized than they are currently. We will also continue to improve our customer service, which by the way, providing the very best customer service is my biggest objective for this company," concludes a very introspective Troy.

HOPPY HELPS HELPS THOSE IN NEED...

SAN JOSE, CA - "The Hoppy Crew, in conjunction with Art Scott and Associates Inc., recently helped provide over 3,000 meals to our local community for the holidays," comments Promotions Director Robert Helms. Art Scott, founder of the 9th Annual Thanksgiving "Build-A-Box" program, started this program in 1988 by feeding only three "needy" families. "It's amazing how we've managed to increase our ability to help those in need over the past nine years with the help of a variety of local organizations," says an exuberant Art Scott, Broker/Owner of his new Real Estate firm in Cupertino.

"Art's program, which seeks annual contributions from local "corporate" and "family" sponsors, provides a needy family with an 18 pound turkey, potatoes, vegetables, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, dinner rolls and a pumpkin pie," adds Art's VP of Operations, Lisa Goulet-Mah. "We get our list of families from the San Jose Family Shelter and some of those in need are so desperate that they require pre-cooked items because they don't even have electricity," concludes Lisa.

"The Hoppy Crew, always eager to help those in need, was more than eager to help provide the "much" needed man-power to deliver the food boxes," says Hoppy's Promotions Director Robert Helms, "we were more than ready to set aside some time to help Art out." "We're always looking at ways that we can devote our time and energy to help those around us who may be in need of something; that's just part of our reason for being here," finishes a rather ebullient Robert during this recent holiday season.

For those who would like to participate in Art's Thanksgiving "Build-A-Box" program for this coming year, please feel free to contact Lisa at 800.735.7653 for more details as to how you help feed those in need!!!

  HOPPY GOES IN-DOORS FOR SOCCER!!!

SAN JOSE, CA - The Hoppy Crew, always interested in new “fun” things, recently sponsored a women’s in-door soccer team. Josh Williams, soon to be on his way to brew-school, recently attended a game during the first half of the season, and thought the whole concept was really cool for a sport. “Wow!!! They get to use the walls,” comments an excited Josh! “I remember that game, one because our team won, two, because it was the first game of the season, and three, those girls can really drink beer after the game,” comments an amazed Josh.

If you have a team that would like some “Hoppy” sponsorship, please feel free to contact Robert Helms, Hoppy’s Promotions Director, to find out more about what we can do for your team.

bottbull.gif (2569 bytes) HOPPY SPOTLIGHTS BLAKE's AND THE SHARK!!!

SAN JOSE, CA - San Pedro Square has continued to grow and become a destination of sorts for those eclectic consumers who are looking for interesting places to eat and hang out in downtown San Jose. In addition, in the near future, that sophisticated consumer will also be able to do their dining out-doors, via a sidewalk widening and street improvement project. A primary reason for the streets success is because of two very fine establishments: one, Blake's located at the south end of the street; and two, the Shark and Rose located at the north end of the street. Another well kept secret for dining is 71 Saint Peter, located just north of the Shark and Rose owned Mark and Armand Tiano.

Blake's, operated primarily by owner's Blake and Peggy Crane, specialize in meals offering that cutting edge "classic" meat-and- potato entree. The place is large, with an abundance of open space and definitely upscale in appearance, but one is not overwhelmed by the space, or does not feel uncomfortable showing up in typical California casual wear. Blake's also has an upstairs conference room perfect for holding those lunch-time conferences or a company Christmas party, which is a real bonus for those companies looking for a private place to hold a meeting downtown. Blake or Peggy Crane are also usually found near their entrance greeting guests as they enter their establishment, and bidding them farewell after they finished a wonderful meal. The food and drink are excellent, the wait-staff friendly and efficient, and one cannot help but spend a couple of hours ingesting what the Crane's have to offer...

The Shark and Rose, operated primarily by head-chef/owner Rich Bergin, has put together a delightful menu of unique seafood entree's. In addition, Rich always has two daily seafood specials, along with a "land-lover" special. A favorite of the Hoppy Staff is the seared ahi tuna with steamed rice and vegetables. However, for those looking for some great mashed potatoes as a substitute for the rice, Rich offers some excellent horseradish mashed potatoes! The place is very cozy, with a "newly-extended" even longer bar running along one side of most of the restaurant, which gives a patron an opportunity to see the variety of microbrewed beers available on tap, and in bottles, as they make their way to their seat for lunch or dinner. "If you're lucky Armand, from 71, might even step in and treat you to one of his patented back massage's," comments recent recipient of said massage, Troy Paski.

With Valentine's Day coming up, both of these places make an excellent choice to take that special someone out for a meal they will long remember! Depending upon your mood for either lunch or dinner, both offer excellent and distinctively appealing menus. Therefore, make some reservations and start spending some time where more and more people are discovering why San Pedro Square is such a fun place!!!
