HOPPY NEW BEER!!!

Brewer's Specials on tap for the month of March are the HoppyScotch Ale and the Red Dragon Smoked Amber. The HoppyScotch is brewed with Maris Otter and Caramel malts with a touch of Roasted Barley. It is hopped with just a little bit of Willamette hops to stand in counterpoint to the robust maltosity. Alcohol by volume is 7.3%. This brew is comparable to a McEwan's Scotch Ale or a Traquair House Ale.

The Red Dragon Smoked Amber is inspired by the great rauchbiers of Germany. This amber ale is flavored with beechwood-smoked malt from the 125-year old Weyermann malting company in Bamburg, Germany and spiced with Columbus hops. The smoked malt gives the beer a nice, tangy flavor that should go well with our pulled pork sandwich or our yummy ribs. Alcohol by volume is 6.0%. According to Ed, it is comparable to "Hmm...I can't really think of any commercial examples from around here...imagine Hoppy Face but smokey and not as bitter..."

Due up on tap sometime in late March or early April will be a brand spankin' new Milk Stout, and the return of our Cerveza Vienna lager, which will be followed by a Bohemian Pilsner.

HOPPY CONSTRUCTION COMING...

With the recent approval of the Planning Department's Plan Review for a key component of the 65th Street Transit Village that the City of Sacramento is trying to implement look for construction to begin later this year. Replacing Best Pool Supply, Hoppy's neighbor to the east and situated just west of the new Office Depot and other new commercial development, will be roughly a 10,000 square foot building with five (5) new commercial tenants. In addition, on the remaining property bounded by 65th Street, the SMUD substation, Light Rail tracks, and the new commercial development, will be three buildings, three to four stories tall, consisting of 141 single occupancy apartments. The entire project will have 180 parking spaces. While all of this new development will be good for Hoppy, since it is basically impossible to sell beer to dirt, parking in what was a vacant lot in the future will become a little more cramped. Ahh...progress...

HOPPY SPRING SHOWCASE!!!

Each year, the Sacramento Entrepreneurship Academy educates, trains, and mentors 20-to-30 UC Davis and CSU Sacramento students through an eight-month program. The program culminates with the annual Showcase event where student teams graduate and present their plans to the business community. This year the Showcase Featured Speaker is Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and dot-com billionaire. The event is on March 24th at 5:00pm in the Sacramento Grand Ballroom at 629 J Street. Tickets may still be available to this event for $55, which always sells out. However, if you are interested in attending, feel free to contact geof lambert at geof@maxonsearch.com to see if tickets are still available.

In addition, the vendor/caterer for those who may get hungry and/or thirsty during this event will be...Hoppy Brewing Company... :)

Remember...the craft brew industry is very competitive, and we can always use your help when you are out there in the bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and etc. How can you help us you may be asking yourself??? Well...ask your local retailer(s) for our products (to the point of bugging them if necessary), so that you are able to buy the products that you "really" want - not just what is on the store shelf, or on-tap, at the moment...

You, the consumer, have more power than you may know. Speak up, speak clearly, and your earnest taste buds may reap those proactive rewards. If you do this, then we are sure it will not be long before you will be able to enjoy our Liquid Sunshine™ Blonde, Hoppy Face™ Amber, Stony Face™ Red, and Total Eclipse™ Black Ales outside of attending a local festival, or even visiting us here in Sacramento...
